For the prevention and management of lower back pain.
My own journey into pilates, was from the misery of low back pain and it is something that I have in common with many of my clients. In fact, more than 80% of adults will suffer from low back pain at some point in their life. This has inspired me to go beyond my level 3 pilates training to undertake further extensive training to become a Back 4 Good practitioner, registered Backcare professional with the registered charity Backcare and level 4 on the register of exercise professionals.
Guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Clinial Excellence says that gentle, effective exercise, delivered by a properley trained exercise professional can help with the prevention and management of lower back pain, hence why may GP's, phyiotherapists and other medical professionals recommend Pilates.
The Back 4 Good programme is designed to help you get moving, strengthen your core and to keep your back flexible and stong through a series of specially designed Pilates based exercises that help with the prevention of low back pain. You do not need to worry about your fitness levels, as the Healthy Backs Class will be small and at a slightly slower pace allowing for individual attention, feedback and questions too (max 8 Clients).
One to one sessions are also available. The aim is for clients to find 'first aid' exercises that may bring them immediate relief, as well as exercises to provide more long term results to improve, strength, stamina and posture.
All clients enroling on this class are required to complete a Back4Good enrolment form below and with all forms of physical exercise, it is prudent to consult your doctor before starting sessions. For some clients, one to one sessions may be recommended before joining class.
